How 2
Install a PCI Sound Card
HOME BACK
The 1st thing to
have before you start any installation of hardware in a computer is a ESD
strap. You can pickup an
Electrostatic Discharge wrist strap at any local electronics store. It will attach to your wrist
then connect to the computer box you are about to work on. You will see here I have a
PCI Sound Card. All sound cards have these
small round holes but maybe more or maybe less of them. You can see the Gold
connectors along the bottom and that they are for a PCI slot. You should never touch these
Gold connectors with your hands since the oil from your skin could cause issues
later. The Sound Card will fit into
one of the five PCI slots I have here. They are normally white and
you always have more of them than any other slot. This is due to the fact they
are now more popular for hardware because of the speed they can run. Slide the Sound Card into
one of the slots after the Motherboard is mounted in your box. Once the card is installed boot
your computer up and install the drivers to make the card communicate. This Ends The Task
